I got an email today from a troll my single reader basically saying (in a not so polite way) that gold guides suck, that it is so easy to make gold in TBC and blah blah blah.
Despite the obtuse nature of the email he does highlight a question I often get asked; why should I buy a WoW gold guide?
First things first; if gold is so easy to make in TBC then why is gold selling such a major online business (hint:it really is easy to make gold). It’s simple really; people CBA to go make gold for themselves and lets face it, do you really think all those gold selling spambots would be in the game if there wasn’t major amounts of (real) money to be made?
Speaking of making money, lets condense this down into two groups. You are either a person who knows how easy it is to make gold or you’re not. If you know how to make gold, good for you. Enjoy your game time and experience because you truly deserve to. You’ve managed to achieve what very few others gamers have - inside knowledge of the game’s economy but here’s a tip for you; why not write your own gold guide and profit from it?
For the rest of you that are still reading you belong in the second group.
Top 4 Reasons Why You Need a Gold Guide
- Laziness
- Ignorance
- Time
- Money
Laziness
You and I are lazy; sorry but it’s a fact of life! It’s in our nature to find the easiest and quickest ways to get things done. A way that involves the least amount of effort, but hey at least we’re efficient right?
A lot of us CBA to go and make gold, we’d rather do other things like go raiding, go to the arenas, socialize, heck even RP if you’re into that sort of thing. Why should we go looking for good spots to farm gold? It’s too tedious.
I won’t lie to you, gold guides are written to help you make gold legally and that requires some work on your part. The good thing about these guides though is that it makes you efficient. You don’t need to go searching for the right mobs to farm, wondering if the loot it drops is worth anything or not, you’ll have a list of places you can go directly to. Why waste time figuring that out yourself when others have done the work for you?
Ignorance
I’m not being rude here, we’re all ignorant on some level no matter what the topic of discussion is, but here you are with one or more goals to achieve:
- Epic (Flying) Mount
- Profession leveling
- Faction leveling
- Recipes to buy
…and so forth.
However you need gold, and a lot of it, in order to meet those goals, but you don’t know the best ways to make it. A guide to making gold will give you the knowledge you need. Simple.
Time
These next two points are inter-related but lets break them down none-the-less.
Every single human being on this planet has two resources available to them; time and money. How much you have in one determines how much of the other you need to spend. If you don’t have money to buy gold then you’ll have to invest time in making it yourself.
It’s similar to the first point - laziness, but some people just don’t have time to waste in an attempt to make gold. It could be RL issues or it could just be that you are a casual gamer and don’t spend much time playing. No matter the reasons we would all rather maximize our efficiency when it comes to spending time to make gold.
This is where the guide comes in. A good guide will tell you what to concentrate on and what to avoid. It will tell you the best places to go grinding, it will even tell you the best routes to take whilst grinding. All in an attempt to save you time when making gold.
Money
Take a look at this screenshot. I grabbed this from a random Google search for the term “wow gold”.

You can see that the minimum amount of gold you can buy from this particular site is 500 gold and it will cost you $11.41.
What can you get for 500 gold? Not a lot. It won’t even get you your level 60 riding skill! So you may add two lots of 500 gold to the shopping basket bringing the cost to $22.82 but wait. As with any good merchant, the more you buy the more you’ll save and in this case they have 1000 gold for sale at $21.90 saving you 92 cents heh.
Again, 1000 gold won’t go very far in WoW these days. So how much do you want? 5000? That’ll cost you $106.06. Whilst 10,000 gold will set you back $205.20 and 100,000 gold, the largest amount you can purchase from this site, will cost you $1,959.76.
One hundred thousand gold! I’m not sure the game’s mechanics will let you carry that much
Or how about this; as much gold as you’ll ever need for $37.00. That’s how much these gold guides tend to sell for.
Go ahead, check out this gold guide for yourself.
